(No phone orders will be accepted)
Los Angeles Divorce Records In Writing Request
To obtain Los Angeles divorce records in writing you'll want to know the case number, names of parties and the name of the document you want copied. If you have the parties names and the year the case was filed, but no case number, and it was filed in 1965 or earlier, you may be able to request the case number by calling the civil index clerk at (213) 974-1378. If the case was filed after 1965, call the civil index clerk at (213) 974-5171. If that is unsuccessful, you can submit the party names and an approximate divorce filing date range of no more than 10 years. The Los Angeles Superior Court will perform a search and process your order if a case match is found (A nominal service fee is charged for this service, regardless of whether the search produces the desired result).

The Los Angeles Superior Court recommends enclosing a blank check made payable to the "Los Angeles Superior Court" with "Not to exceed $x.xx" written on the memo line. Also, include a self-addressed and stamped envelope to your address. Requests take approximately 8-10 weeks to process.
